Interview Do's

Do smile!
Do greet everyone, including the receptionist, in a polite and friendly manner.
Do listen carefully.
Do offer your hand when you arrive and make sure your handshake is firm, not limp.
Do arrive on time, meaning at least 10 minutes early.
Do look at the positive angles and try and make others feel comfortable.
Do memorise and remember the names of the people who will be interviewing you.
Do concentrate on aspects regarding positive former employers.
Do shake the interviewer's hand at the end of the interview.
Do ensure your shoes are clean and without scuff marks.
Do make sure your teeth are clean and your breath is fresh.
Do take extra copies of your resume to the interview in case there is more than one person interviewing you.
Do take a pen and notepad to take down information
Do role play with a friend before the interview.
Do dress appropriately for the interview.
Do reflect before answering difficult questions.
Do show your enthusiasm, dedication and ambition through your words and body language.
Do highlight your strengths and accomplishments on your previous jobs.
Do follow up the interview with a thankyou note.
Do ask when a position is anticipated.

Interview Dont's

Don't brag about how great you are, but neglect to cite any evidence of your accomplishments.
Don't answer all questions with a simple yes or no.
Don't appear desperate for a job, any job.
Don't badmouth your current or former employers, peers or companies.
Don't wear overpowering perfume or aftershave.
Don't chew gum, eat or smoke during the interview.
Don't be too early for an interview.
Don't fidget in your chair or slouch in your seat.
Don't hum, tap your fingers / feet or play with your fingers. Keep your hands on your lap.
Don't ever apologize for anything. Just accentuate the positive, relevant information.
Don't speak about salary unless the employer brings up the subject and then only confirm what you are currently earning.
