Formatting Guide Various styles are acceptable for formatting a resume. When you have more experience writing resumes you may wish to choose a different style or design one of your own. Resumes should be attractive and present all the necessary information on one or two pages.
To format a traditional resume:
Set alignment at center.
Press Enter 6 times: then center your name in 14-pt. Arial bold.
Press Enter 2 times.
Type your street address, followed by a comma.
Press the Space Bar 1 time; then type your city, state, and ZIP code.
Press Enter 1 time.
Type your phone number, followed by a semicolon.
Press the Space Bar 1 time; then type email: and your email address.
Press Enter 2 times.
Insert a table with 2 columns and 1 row. Adjust the left column to accommodate
the longest entry in the left column; REFERENCES.
Apply a top border to the table, and press Enter 1 time.
Type OBJECTIVE in bold in Row 1, Column A.
Tab to Column B, press Enter 1 time, and type your objective.
