1. Come on time. 2. Build a good first impression by wearing proper attire, showing confidence, giving a firm handshake and a pleasant smile to the interviewer. 3. Speak clearly. Be conversational. Don’t sound like you just memorized your piece and practiced a lot. 4. Watch your diction and grammar. 5. Use positive words like “I am”, “I would”, “I did”, “I worked” rather than “I think”, “I guess”, etc. Use verbs with active voice. Avoid using verbs with passive voice like “I was assigned, “I was appointed as…”, etc. 6. Establish rapport by relating to the interviewer. Maintain eye contact. 7. Project confidence and positive attitude 8. Emphasize on your strengths and qualifications. Tell the interviewer exactly why they should hire you. 9. Handle weaknesses or barriers 10. Listen attentively. Do not interrupt while the interviewer is speaking. 11. Sit comfortably 12. Avoid mannerisms 13. Use gestures that would not distract the interviewer 14. Dispel their fears like the possibility of your inability to do the job, absence, tardiness, etc. 15. End the interview with a strong statement about your qualifications 16.
