Present Tenses(I am doing/I do) with a Future Meaning
A.PRESENT CONTINUOUS(I am doing) with a future meaning
We use the present continuous to say what we have already arranged to do.
Examples:
1.What are you doing this Saturday? (not What do you do)
I'm going to the theater. (not I go)
2.I'm not working tomorrow, so we can go somewhere.
3.Tom isn't playing football on Saturday.He hurt his leg.
4.Maria is getting married next month.
5.Tina is having dinner with Brian on Friday.
B.SIMPLE PRESENT (I do) with a future meaning
We use the simple present to talk about timetables, schedules(for exmple, for public transportation, movies etc).We can also use the simple present for people if plans are fixed, like a schedule.
Examples:
1.The plane LEAVES New York at 11:30 and ARRIVES in Colorado at 2:45.
2.What time DOES the movie BEGIN?
3.Tomorrow IS Sunday.
4.I START my new job on Monday.
5.What time DO you FINISH work tomorrow?
