Lesson 12 --- SPECIAL DAYS/특별한 날
Lesson12: SPECIAL DAYS

What are special days for you? Is it your birthday? Is it your wedding anniversary? Is Christmas the most special day in your life? People will eventually answer these questions differently. How about you? It is expected that people regard their birthdays and wedding anniversaries as their most important special days. Does it apply to you?

In particular, Korean husbands have to entertain their wives with special gifts or trips for the celebration of their wedding anniversary. Korean people also celebrate traditional holidays like Chusuk(Thanksgiving) and New Year’s Day. Christmas is important to Christians to commemorate the sacrifices of Jesus for their redemption. It is also a wonderful time to spend with the family. However, in other countries it is celebrated in other ways. Some people celebrate it by going out of town with friends or boyfriends or girlfriends. Holidays usually provides opportunities for the family or friends to get together.
I am going to take a week-long trip for my next birthday.I want to be free from everyday affairs and ask myself “Who am I?’ What am I living for? I make money with a nine-to five job, make friends, and wish to have more worldly and material things. I don’t know if this is the life God wants for me. I am sure I can realize What kind of life I have led so far. Then, I would have to change my life. I’m not sure I have the nerve to do that.
